Tata Motors Enters Bangladesh's Car Market

Tata Motors made its maiden entry in the Bangladesh new car market, introducing two sedans - Tata Indigo eCS & TataIndigo Manza and a hatchback - Tata Indica Vista.

Speaking on the introduction of the passenger cars in Bangladesh, Karl Slym, MD, Tata Motors, said, "We are happy and honoured to enter Bangladesh with our passenger cars. Our 40-year association with Bangladesh has given us an insight into the aspiration of the country's motorists. They will be central to our business - we will delight them with the performance of our cars and the comfort and excellence of our service, and establish ourselves as we have in commercial vehicles since 1972."

To begin with, the cars will be available in Dhaka with one showroom. By 2013, three other cities will be covered, with a showroom each. Tata Motors has a 40-year heritage in Bangladesh, having introduced its buses in 1972. There are about 53,000 Tata commercial vehicles on Bangladesh roads. The company is today the market leader with a 70% market share.
